Somerset County Reclamation Award
 
In 2026, Simkol Corp. received the Somerset County Reclamation Award for outstanding reclamation of an abandoned highwall and the open entry to an abandoned country bank deep mine by the Pennsylvania Coal Alliance.
 
The project returned the land to beneficial uses, including cropland and wildlife habitat, while addressing hazards associated with historic mining.
